There is a legendary bird called the Phoenix bird that according to legend lives in Arabia. However, there is a completely different story told by HC Andersen, the legendary Danish author.
In his story about the Phoenix Bird HC Andersen describes many details never heard before about the Phoenix bird. Essentially he says that it was born when Adam and Eve were expelled from the Garden of Eden after eating the poisoned fruit from the tree of knowledge. There was a rose bush next to the tree of knowledge and when the cherub used the flaming sword to expel them the rose bush caught fire and the bird living there died. However there was a red egg that came alive and became the new Phoenix bird. In legends its usually reborn every 500 years although in some cases it happens every one hundred years.
Geographically Andersen gives it an extremely international role geographically speaking:
But the phoenix is not a bird of Arabia alone. In the glimmer of the northern lights he flies over the plains of Lapland and hops amid the yellow flowers in the short Greenland summer. Deep beneath the copper mountains of Falun, and in England’s coal mines, he flies in the form of a powdered moth over the hymnbook resting in the hands of the pious miner. He floats down the sacred waters of the Ganges on a lotus leaf, and the eye of the Hindu maid brightens when she beholds him.
Finally Andersen says that the Phoenix can take any shape and present itself anywhere suitable. If we make a guess the occasion and importance has to be something extraordinary, ie on the shoulders of Shakespeare disguised as the ravens of Odin. HC Andersen concludes his short story about the Phoenix like this:
“Phoenix bird! Don’t you know him? He sang the Marseillaise to you, and you kissed the feather that fell from his wing; he came in the glory of paradise, and perhaps you turned away from him toward the sparrow that sat with gold tinsel on its wings.
The bird of paradise-renewed each century-born in flame, dying in flame! Your portrait in a frame of gold hangs in the halls of the rich, but you yourself often fly around lonely and misunderstood-a myth only: “The phoenix bird of Arabia.”
When you were born in the garden of paradise, in its first rose, beneath the tree of knowledge, our Lord kissed you and gave you your true name-poetry!”
Perhaps the real meaning is that the Phoenix is misunderstood and not appreciated by many people who dont understand its greatness. Because it holds true greatness that only a few know to appreciate. It can appear as any kind of mysterious man – in Falun, in Lapland, in India or in Greenland.
The fact that HC Andersen connects the Phoenix bird with Falun city is another prophetic hint about today´s world and the fact that the Qi Gong cultivation system of Falun Gong is persecuted by the CCP on a global scale as we speak.
